Mystery ghost light baffles paranormal investigators in ‘best sighting of 2021’

What could well be the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future have left paranormal investigators stumped.

A mysterious video has emerged of an unexplained light orb travelled down a quiet residential street.

The curious phenomenon was caught on camera outside a house in the early hours of December 12.

The light ball appears from behind a parked car before quickly dropping to a lower level.

Paranormal whizz Chris Romer, chairman of the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena, said it was the best sighting of 2021.

Chris said: “It’s amazing – it’s a real mystery why the light dropped.

“It’s some of the best footage I’ve seen this year.”

He added that it’s probably not paranormal activity and is more likely to be someone carrying a mobile phone with the light on, with their body cut out from the footage in the poor light.

Visually, it appears similar to the unproven phenomenon of ball lightning, in which a sphere of electricity appears suddenly before equally suddenly disappearing.

The mum who captured the footage on her outdoor camera said she was baffled despite claiming to not believe in “paranormal things”.

She said: “It starts off as half a person and ends as a ball.

“One of my neighbours has a camera and it didn’t pick this up. If it was someone walking then the other camera would have caught it.

“The man next door said before there were houses on this road there was a company who made bricks. And they wore head torches. So it could be the ghost of one of them.”

Dr David Sivier, a local folklorist, said: “The bumpy motion of the light makes me wonder if its a light being carried by someone, who for some reason doesn’t appear in the image.

“Apart from this, there’s all the folklore about ghostly lights and ‘corpse candles’.

“My guess is that it has a natural explanation, but I couldn’t definitively say without further exploration.”

But Dr Becky Smith, a parapsychologist, wasn’t so sure about claims of it being a ghost.

She said: “I’m not a video footage expert, but I’m afraid I don’t believe it’s a ghost.

“I’m confused by why the figure appears to duck down about half way through, but not enough to make me think it’s anything paranormal.”
